heart broken

I am heart broken.
Heart broken for a dear friend.
Things feel like they are spiraling out of control.

She is the peace maker.
An aching responsibility she gives herself to fill the cracks that burdens create.
Emotions at a time like this run rampant.

Anger, hurt, bitterness and resentment flood to the front of everyone's thoughts.
Blame and finger pointing suffice as the current time keeper.
Fear is the root of it all.

No one wants to have to say goodbye.
Questions go unanswered--why me?
They are praying for a miracle, but will accept it all, if it is God's will.

Bureaucracy and all its red tape.
They just need one break.
Eyes to do more than glaze over their file.

My friend is more than a case number.
Time is not in their favor.
I ask you Lord, please grant them your favor.
