The word grasp to me is a picture word.
I almost can't think of the word without seeing a grasping motion in my head.
It leads me to think of this world and so many of us are grasping at things.
Things we think we want, things we think we need.
Things we know we shouldn't be doing, things we know we should.
But maybe what we need to be doing is letting go.
Trusting that our Creator will be doing the grasping for us.
There's always going to be a brief moment when the steadiness seems deceiving.
That the wide plank you thought you were standing on is really just a sliver.
It's hard work to release the grasp and put it all in His control.
I assure you, all the faith you need is as small as a mustard seed.
Loosen your grip. He will catch your fall.
You'll find the sliver you're afraid to balance on, is a stronger, hardier wood, with a much tighter grip than you could ever achieve on your own.
Take the step. It's a leap of faith.
With it, nothing will be impossible for you.
You'll find the sliver you're afraid to balance on, is a stronger, hardier wood, with a much tighter grip than you could ever achieve on your own.
Take the step. It's a leap of faith.
With it, nothing will be impossible for you.
What do you need to stop grasping for? What do you need to let God grasp for you? Where is your steadiness deceiving you? Where could you let God catch your fall?
***This post is inspired by 5 Minute Friday, over at Lisa-Jo Bakers's blog. Every Friday she encourages other bloggers to throw caution to the wind and just write for 5 minutes flat on a prompt she provides. No editing, no over thinking, just writing. I'm not quite ready to link up so publicly, but have always wanted to participate. Today was the day I guess. ☺***
